Painting is one of the simplest and most affordable home improvements you can undertake. It is a task that the majority of householders can complete with inexpensive tools and little to no experience. You may drastically alter the appearance of a room or your entire house by obtaining the necessary paint and other essential supplies.
However, choosing paint might be difficult. A few of your options are flat, satin, semigloss, and glossy paints. There are various brands and colors to choose from after deciding on the type of paint. You could believe you will never choose because there are so many paint colors available. Where do you begin to whittle down your options until you find the ideal color for you?
Consider the area you are painting before you begin. A semi-gloss or glossy paint will work best on doors that get a lot of use as well as high traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms. It works well on trim and cabinets as well. In less-used spaces like adult bedrooms or dining rooms, flat and satin paints will look better. After deciding on a specific area to paint, decide which color family you want to use. You will go crazy trying to choose a paint color from all of your selections, so reduce your options a little so that you are only evaluating 50 colors rather than 500.
Once you've decided on a color family, visit the store to check out your selections. Just keep in mind not to choose your paint there. Take it home after taking it outside. Examine the color samples in and around your house. Don't skip this step because the colors may seem very differently in natural and indoor lighting. To make sure the colors work well with any existing furniture, it's also a good idea to compare them.
After examining the hue in various lighting conditions, give it some thought for a few days. Even while paint doesn't have to stay forever, if you're going to invest the time repainting, you probably want it to.Take your time to carefully prepare your surface and apply the paint after choosing the ideal paint. Remember that anything worth doing is worth doing well and use painting as an investment in your home. When you look at it, it will be clear whether your intention is to choose the cheapest paint and apply it to the walls as quickly as possible. It could be preferable to leave your house unpainted than to paint it quickly and have it turn out less than flawless.
My suggestion when choosing a color is easy:
IF you plan on living in the home and enjoying it for years to come, by all means paint it whatever color makes you feel good.
IF you plan on selling the home or living in the home for short period of time be careful on the colors you choose. Stay away for colors and keep it natural. My suggestion to all my clients is to keep it simple and to go to a few new construction model homes to get some ideas on popular colors and staging.

Artis—Naples, home of The Baker Museum and the Naples Philharmonic, announced the Sept. 6 opening of Helen Frankenthaler: Late Works, 1990-2003, a landmark presentation of the artist’s innovative work that serves as the anchor for the museum’s fall exhibition season.
“This fall, The Baker Museum presents a truly significant slate of exhibitions to launch the 2022-23 season,” said CEO and President Kathleen van Bergen. “From a landmark exhibition of the late works of Helen Frankenthaler to stunning multimedia installations by Korean-born artist Ran Hwang, and to the deeply impactful drawings of Mauricio Lasansky chronicling the horrors of the Holocaust, The Baker Museum offers visitors an opportunity to experience thought-provoking works by a range of artists.”
Helen Frankenthaler: Late Works, 1990-2003 Sept. 6 —Nov. 27 The innovative and experimental soak-stain paintings of Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) established her as one of the great artists of the 20th century. This exhibition, on loan from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, is the first museum exhibition dedicated to the last phase of the painter’s prolific career and features 20 paintings on paper and 10 paintings on canvas.
Frankenthaler played a defining role in the history of postwar American painting. Her innovative soakstain technique inaugurated the shift from Abstract Expressionism to Color Field painting and influenced artists such as Morris Louis, Jules Olitski, Friedel Dzubas and Kenneth Noland. The works on view in this exhibition demonstrate Frankenthaler’s long-standing interest in the relationship between landscape and abstraction and reveal her continued sensitivity to the emotional effects of color.
Jesús Rafael Soto: Extension and Half Sphere 2022-23 Season, Ongoing Installation The monumental outdoor sculpture Extension and Half Sphere (1991) by Venezuelan artist Jesús Rafael Soto (1923-2005) activates the north lawn of The Baker Museum this season. Composed of acrylic and aluminum, this sculpture exemplifies Soto’s pioneering contributions to kinetic art.
Soto began his career as a figurative painter, but a fascination with geometry rapidly led him toward three-dimensional sculpture and abstraction. In 1950, he left his native Venezuela for Paris, where he exhibited at the progressive Galerie Denise René. In this particular sculpture, a series of thin, closely spaced rods create a white-and-yellow semi-spherical form, evoking the wiggling surface of a boiled egg—or the hazy, wavering light of a rising or setting sun. Envisioning Evil: “The Nazi Drawings” by Mauricio Lasansky Sept. 17 — Feb. 19, 2023 The son of Jewish immigrants in Argentina, Mauricio Lasansky (1914-2012) forged a flourishing career as an artist in the United States, creating work that explored themes of war and violence. In 1961, coinciding with the televised trial of the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, he began a series of monumental drawings to grapple with the Holocaust. Confronted with the atrocities, he said, “I was full of hate, poison, and I wanted to spit it out.”
This exhibition is organized by the Minneapolis Institute of Art and lent by the Levitt Foundation.
Ran Hwang: Becoming Again Oct. 22 — Jan. 8, 2023 Korean born, New York- and Seoul-based artist Ran Hwang (b. 1960) creates densely referential artworks and installations deploying buttons, beads, pins and thread, sometimes overlaid with moving video images. Her solo exhibition Ran Hwang: Becoming Again, the largest museum presentation of her work in the southeastern United States to date, features Hwang’s stunning multimedia works as well as her iconic silhouettes of Buddhas and plum blossoms. Her assemblages of ordinary everyday objects and multimedia installation works are simultaneously rooted in traditional Korean visual lexicon and deeply steeped in 21st-century global contemporary art practice.

Amassed over a period of more than fifty years and spanning time periods and continents, The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation is a testament to Louis-Dreyfus’s aesthetic intuition, curiosity and passion for collecting on a personal level.
The Artist’s Hand presents a comprehensive look at the collector’s compelling vision through the lens of his interest in the artist’s virtuous creative process. Intrigued by the desire to assimilate the visual language and technique of the artists he collected, Louis-Dreyfus amassed a collection that highlights the conversations between the works of trained and untrained artists, giving voice to those who were unjustly underrepresented in the art historical cannon.
